Chicago Prostate Cancer Center was established in 1997 with the goal of providing patients with comprehensive care focused on the treatment of prostate cancer with radiation therapy in the form of seed implants (brachytherapy). The idea was to provide state-of-the-art prostate brachytherapy to our patients with the best equipment and a well-trained staff in a patient-centered facility.
The philosophy of Chicago Prostate Cancer Center is to do what is in the best interest of our patients. We accomplish this by evaluating a patient not only for prostate cancer or elevated PSA levels, but by assessing a patient’s overall health, quality of life and social situation. Only then can we recommend the best individualized treatment for a patient. This may be prostate radiation with brachytherapy, external beam radiation, hormone therapy, watchful waiting, surgery or a combination of these. In fact historically, we have recommended brachytherapy for our patients in approximately 65% of all cases. This demonstrates our desire to assure that each patient receives the appropriate treatment recommendation for that patient’s individual needs.
We pride ourselves on giving our patients ethical and unbiased medical opinions.
“I think Chicago Prostate Cancer Center is the example of future medical facilities when it comes to dealing with ‘specific serious medical diseases/sickness’ that need ‘expert’ attention. I know Chicago Prostate Cancer Center will do very well.”
